The history of Nesvizh Castle dates back to the 16th century when the enemies burnt the former wooden castle. Some time later there was started the building of the new magnificent castle worthy of Radziwill magnate family. At that time the castle was the safest fortification in Belarus that withstood many attacks. But in 1706 the castle was attacked by Charles XII's army. 10 years later architects started to restore Nesvizh castle and in the middle of the XVIII century it was finally reconstructed. But the power and strength of Radziwill family faded away in 1812 when Prince Dominik Hieronim Radziwil participated in the war on the side of the French Emperor Napoleon and fled after the defeat. Further robbery, change of owners, wars and move-out of valuable collections and jewellery led to the ruin of the Radziwill’s family seat. During the World War II the castle was used as a health resort. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union restoration works started again and in the summer of 2012 Nesvizh Castle was finally reconstructed. Today the doors of Nesvizh Palace are open to everyone. The Castle combines different architectural elements: Baroque and Rococo, Classicism and Renaissance, Neo-Gothic and Modernist architecture. Tourists have an opportunity to see the southern and the eastern galleries and the armory museum. Magnificent landscape parks of the complex are historical and cultural legacy of Belarus. English Park, Marysin Park, Antony Park and Japanese Garden are so beautiful and quiet that everyone will like to spend time there, especially those who live noisy cities. A lot of people come back to Nesvizh Parks, which are especially beautiful in the autumn, but are also charming in the winter.
